Student Loan Debt Repentance Prayer

Prayer to Initiate God’s Forgiveness and Deliverance from Student Loan Debt

Dear Lord,

Thank You for all You’ve done for me, my family, friends, community and this world. Your everlasting grace and mercy keeps us daily–despite our sins and iniquities. Lord, Your word says to be anxious about nothing but to let our requests be known to You in prayer in supplication (Philippians 4:6). In this moment, I approach your throne in need of repentance, forgiveness, and deliverance in the area of student loan debt. However I came into agreement with student loan debt–whether it was predatory lending, lack of understanding of debt, familial/social pressure, societal requirements, and/or fear of lack and poverty–I sincerely repent today Lord. I repent for coming into agreement with student loan debt and ask for Your holy forgiveness and deliverance from this destructive cycle.

Jesus died for our sins and spiritual debts. Thus, there was no need to get caught-up in the world’s satanic cycle of sin, debt, and poverty. When I was younger I may not have understood this, Lord, and I thank You for your grace and mercy in giving me time to repent before impending judgment. Lord, I cry out to You on this day for heavenly assistance in deliverance from student loan debt. It has become a burden too big for me and many in my generation to bear. I was deceived into thinking these debts would save me from a life of poverty and would be easily repaid through my salary over the years. God, the cycle of debt has proven otherwise. Not only have I not been able to pay it back over the years but the interest keeps stacking up and the cost of living is rising faster than the growth of my salary and income. Lord, you are the only savior. I repent for idolatry in thinking the world’s financial system could save me. I was grossly wrong.

Jesus, I thank You for your ultimate sacrifice on the cross–amen! I am now calling upon the wisdom of the Holy Spirit to guide my way to freedom from student loan debt. Lord your word says that as we sincerely repent we will be forgiven (1 John 1:9). Therefore, there is no need for me to come into agreement with shame or guilt, which are the enemies’ plan to keep me chained to debt. I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me (Philippians 4:13), including following the path that God has for me to overcome student loan debt.

May the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, guard my heart and mind in the process of being delivered from student loan debt (Philippians 4:7). Lord, I am here to listen and obey the steps you guide me through for deliverance. I will not come into agreement with worry or fear, as Your word says we walk by faith and not by sight (2 Corinthians 5:7). From this day forward, I will guard my heart, spirit, and mind against anxious striving, the pursuit of worldly success, the false promise of financial security, self-reliance, and every mindset that competes with wholehearted trust in You. I choose to seek first Your Kingdom, trusting that my identity, purpose, and provision are found in You alone. I will increase my faith in you by seeking you in all things, spending time with You in prayer, tuning my ear to the Holy Spirit, and learning Your wisdom by reading Your word in the Bible.

Thank You for Your mercy, grace, and deliverance from student loan debt–Godspeed on this day. In Your precious name we pray, Jesus, amen!
